Bruce McKenzie Custom

Bruce McKenzie is a local music journalist who commissioned a “Bruce” model guitar but wanted to have a big sound for playing solo as well as a guitar which was designed for dropped tuning and Celtic style music. So after lengthy discussions and trials we decided on Peruvian Walnut for the back and sides, Bear Claw Sitka Spruce for the top and a mahogany neck. The body depth at the heel was 115mm and tapered down to just under 100mm at the neck. As part of the design requirement was to be able to drop tune the guitar, the scale length was 650mm which allowed the strings to be slackened but not loose any clarity or volume.
